Pupil Job Vacancies- How it works!
As a way of developing children’s life skills linked to future employment and longer term aspirations we intend to advertise for and appoint children to specially designed ‘jobs’ that they can undertake in school. Children will have the opportunity to experience the process of applying for a job and completing an application form, taking part in an interview process, considering ‘pay’ and taking account of job descriptions and associated responsibilities.
If your child is interested, they will be asked to formally apply for a position through completing an application form and then, if successful, take part in an interview. Successful candidates will be invited to take up their posts for a fixed period of time. Your child will receive payment in 'Acres' each time they undertake a session of employment. Children will have to sign in and sign out when undertaking their 'job' and will be provided with training and a uniform where appropriate. Children will be expected to save their 'Acres' for a period of time and will then be able to spend their earnings on a scheduled shopping trip in Newport.
Whilst this is as close to a real life process as possible, at all times we will be sensitive to individual children’s needs. Guidance, support and encouragement will be given throughout by their line manager.
