Sports and Physical Education at Nine Acres

Sports Premium Funding

At Nine Acres Primary School we aim to provide all children with an inspiring curriculum that gives them the opportunity to succeed in all physically-demanding activities and develop a love of sport.

The Government has confirmed its continuing investment in primary sport with the allocation of £160 million  to continue to improve physical education and sport in primary schools.  Each primary school will continue to receive a flat amount of £8000 plus £5 per pupil aged 5 and over at the last Pupil Census.  In the March 2020 Budget, the Government announced a pledge to double this amount to £320 million from September 2021, funded by taxation on sugar in soft drinks.

At Nine Acres Primary, the Sport Premium is allowing us to develop a sustainable improvement in teacher confidence and skills, driving the professional development of the teaching team through investing in the services of the specialist sports provider to plan and then work alongside identified teachers across a range of planned disciplines throughout the year. The aim is to build a sustainable capacity on the teaching team rather than buy in services which may then cease if funding is no longer available.

Living on an Island we consider swimming a critical life-skill and our school funded swimming programme takes place in Year 3. Please see below the analysis from this important part of our curriculum.

Miss Moseley and Mr Toulson work extremely hard to provide a fully accessible PE and sports curriculum where everyone can develop and shine! Please download the yearly overview to see all of the sports and skills that we deliver here at Nine Acres!

We are so proud that we achieved the Gold Sports Mark 2023 and are now working towards achieving the Platinum award!
